We're back from our ramble. As soon as the feeling comes back into my feet, everything will be cozy and normal. MeeMaw's boots are better than mine, for sure. Hers are the steel-toed insulated work boots. Mine are rubber Wellingtons. I wore three pairs of socks and still froze my toes.We went up into the woodlot to cross over into Mr. D's pasture and take some photos. As soon as we got fifty yards into the treeline, guess who showed up, looking to mooch some carrots?
The bleak beauty of the cornstalks jutting out of the snow...
And the sweet image of MeeMaw surveying our woodlot from the other side...Our little valley is as still as a stone today.
PeePaw, the squire of Possum Cough. You can almost hear Wagner in the background, can't you?
PeePaw, the squire of Possum Cough. You can almost hear Wagner in the background, can't you?The shifting slices of light and shadow, along with the sideways, granular snow...

Then we came back and fired up ol' Purps and drove down to the Hales Spring. On the way, MeeMaw took this shot of Possum Cough from a distance.
On the short drive, we spotted some snow-dusted round hay bales. "They look like Frosted Mini-Wheats!" said MeeMaw. And she was right.
And then back to Possum Cough. The rest of this day will be given over to writing, reading, and resting. We're grateful for our snow day. As MeeMaw said, the only thing that would make this day absolutely perfect would be if J&K and the twins and Joshi-O and Moo-Moo were outside in the snow, and my mother were in the family room watching the fun from the rocking chair, with a big ol' roast approaching perfection in the crockpot. Yes, that would be perfect.

Yes, that would be perfect. We very rarely get "perfect." But we always get more than we deserve. This is a good day. This is a gift.
Rest well, loved ones.
