Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday, dear MeeMaw,
Happy Birthday to you!
First thing...the unwrapping of the presents. MeeMaw never expected to start the day with some livestock.

I tried to make sure MeeMaw is well-equipped with practical items. Some sturdy snake-proof boots were certainly in order (I also got her some gloves and some deer whistles for her car). The boots have the added bonus of steel toes. All the better to kick mammals with.

MeeMaw fixed us some fried egg sandwiches and a thermos of coffee for breakfast. We went up into the woodlot and found a peaceful spot to break our fast.
Then we came down and looked around at the changing, falling leaves. And the sun certainly had what Emily Dickenson called "that certain slant of light."
We also noticed that one of MeeMaw's rose bushes had a bloom on it. The yellow Texas rose is just about to bloom, but this one was fully revealed.

And here's MeeMaw blowing a kiss to Jason and Karen. "Thank you for my gift and my card!"

MeeMaw's friend Malinda sent her a very nice framed sampler and a spectacular rustic Texas flag painted on barn wood. It'll go in the Tejas bathroom, natch.

Joshie-O and Moo-Moo called and sang a very lilting rendition of "Happy Birthday" tonight (I could hear it from where I sat, and it truly sounded very nice). This was a special gift, and MeeMaw loved it.
MeeMaw says, "Thanks to all my beloved family for making my birthday so happy." And we hope MeeMaw knows that each of us is grateful to God for His giving her this many years of life. May she live for many, many more...surrounded by the love of her family.
